Kāvya Raman

Senior Facilitator

Kāvya is a social impact facilitator, designer and coach. She brings over 15 years experience leading design, strategy and innovation projects for social sector organizations in North America, Europe, Asia and South-west Asia.

She creates safe and joyful spaces for organizations, movements and people to have uncomfortable conversations about power and privilege while empowering groups to approach complex social and environmental challenges with more curiosity, compassion, creativity and collaboration.

As a trained designer for social impact, Kāvya’s approach leverages a unique blend of co-design, design thinking, management, applied social science research, systems thinking, bio-mimicry, foresight, future studies, strategic facilitation, science fiction and serious play. Her toolkit is adaptive and evolving, always in service of a project or community’s purpose.

Kāvya holds a Master of Science in Strategic Design and Management from Parsons School of Design at The New School in New York and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from Carleton University in Ottawa. She gives back to her community by moderating Design Gigs for Good, a free community resource dedicated to helping more people use design as a tool for positive social change. She also runs a community of practice for designers and change makers interested in (un)learning, experimenting with, and co-creating tools and methodologies to decolonize their practices.
